Twitter shares new information on rising discussion topics, based on analysis of billions of tweets

Twitter has published a new report which examines the top conversational topics emerging in the app, based on analysis of billions of tweets over the past two years.

Twitter’s 2022 Trends Report singles out three topics that are getting a lot more attention in the app, which could help guide your strategic approach, leveraging those discussions and shifts.

The three priority topics identified by Twitter are:

  • The great restoration – Users are looking for companies and governments to take more action to fight climate change
  • Fan-made worlds – Fans are looking to collaborate on art and community building, with the arrival of NFT culture allowing for a new level of interaction and engagement
  • Finance goes social – Largely in line with the rise of cryptocurrency discussions, more and more Twitter users are now looking to discuss financial opportunities and options

Each trend includes an overview of the evolution of the discussion, including notes on what it means and the relative increase in tweet activity.

There are also more specific breakdowns of news items and where people’s attention is focused on each one.
